Feeback Questions

Hello Hamilton Soccer Club Families!!

Hard to believe, but the season is about to end!! We on the soccer board hope that it has been a rewarding experience for you.

We have received a lot of feedback already, but this is an opportunity for you to give some feedback to the board so that we may serve you better.

Also, I would like to let you know that we have positions on the board opening this summer, and so if you are interested please contact John DeNeef at webkeeper@hamsoc.com so that you can get an application ASAP.

FEEDBACK QUESTIONS:

1. What do you feel was done well during the 2008-2009 season? What did you appreciate? What should we be sure to continue doing? How was competitive club through the Hamilton Soccer Club a good experience for your child?

2. What could we do to improve? What were/are your concerns?

Please send to hamsocteamdirector@gmail.com.

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to fill this out. We truly exist to serve you and your family, and we appreciate any feedback that helps us to do it better. And once again, thanks for participating this year.

Sincerely,
Bill Mousel
on behalf of the Hamilton Soccer Club Board of Directors

Board Member Positions Opening

It is time for a small change of the guard.

Board positions are opening up this season. Board members serve a 3-year term, and serve in a number of capacities.

If you are interested in being on the board, please email John DeNeef at webkeeper@hamsoc.com for an application.

We will be meeting the last Thursday of June, and it would be great to have the applications a week before that so new board members can be "on board"(Sorry, I couldn't think of a better way to say that).

Tryout Dates and other news.

Tryouts for the 2009-10 season will be on Monday, June 15 at the high school practice field.
They are open to all age-levels from U8 to U19. If there are enough older players to form a team, the cost may vary from that for the younger players.

U10 and below tryout from 6:00-7:00 pm.(tenth birthday after July 31)
U11 and up tryout from 7:00-8:00 pm.

Come giving yourself adequate time to warm up. During the tryouts, each player will be given a score which will first determine if the player makes the team, and then will help determine the tier for that team.

We do not plan to allow players to play up in order to make minimum team requirements. A player will only be allowed to play up if their score from the tryouts indicates that it would be appropriate.

This means that we will need to have full rosters at every age level in order to make teams. So feel free to recruit other talented soccer players to come try out that evening. It doesn't cost anything to try out!

Speaking of cost, I would like to give you a number, but we are still trying to determine the cost of field maintenance which will be hired out (something new for us). The cost of referees went up this year as well, so be ready for a price increase. I will try to post it as soon as I have a final number.

We also plan to send out another tri-fold mailer this week, so be looking for that as well.

U8 Girls Team Number Drops Below Minimum

Attention Everyone Interested in the Girls U8 team:

After our phone calls yesterday, two of the girls we were planning on dropped out, which puts our number for this team below its minimum limit. That means we need two more girls for this team or there is no girls U8 team for Hamilton (We need a minimum of 8).

It would have been really nice if those families would have told us earlier, but they didn't. So, do you know any of your girls' friends who are not signed up for softball who might be interested in joining the team? Can you get them to the registration night?

I would encourage you all to still come to the registration night, and try to recruit a couple of your daughter's friends. If they can't make it tomorrow night, can they get together by Wednesday?

I really think we can still have a team for these girls if we get busy looking RIGHT AWAY.

Lets' start talking to each other, and get'r done.

See you tomorrow night!!

Bill Mousel

PS. Here is the current list of girls signed up for the U8 team:
Bronkhorst, Justine
Driesenga, Brittany
Hancock, Autumn
Haverdink, Shea
Johnston, Leah
Poel, Sophia

Please Reply if you haven't

Very soon the phone calls begin. If you have not yet replied, we are BEGGING you to do so to save us at least one more phone call.

Thanks!

Player Registration Night

Dear Soccer Parent,

Plan to respond to the email you receive regarding registration night with a reply. This will save our volunteers the work of calling those who did not respond. If you do not receive an email, let me know at hamsocteamdirector@gmail.com

First we want to thank you and confirm your child's participation in the spring 2009 season with Hamilton Soccer Club and to inform you of our upcoming "Registration Night".

Registration night is scheduled for Monday, February 9th from 6:30 p.m. -8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at Hamilton Middle School. The format is similar to an open house, you can come at any time during the 6:30-8:00 p.m. window.

It is very important that you make every effort to attend registration night AND BRING YOUR SOCCER PLAYER.

We realize that some of you have previously turned in your information, unfortunately, upon further review, we have found that it is not all complete (i.e. missing child's signature, not notarized, no photo, etc.). For this reason, we are requesting that even if you have paid and previously turned in your form, that you please stop in to registration night so that we can make sure we have everything needed to register your child with Grand Valley Soccer by their deadline. If you are unable to attend, please contact Bill at hamsocteamdirector@gmail.com (this email) to make other arrangements to collect your information prior to Wednesday the 11th. Unfortunately, if your information is turned in after this date, we will need to pass on to you a $20 late fee that is assessed to us by GVSA.

On Registration night you will need to complete the following:

1) GVSA/Hamilton Soccer Club Individual Player Registration form (extra copies will be available)
• Your son or daughter will have to sign the player registration form
• The player registration form needs to be notarized, a notary will be available at this registration to do this

2) Bring a legible COPY of your child's birth certificate (unless they have played/registered under GVSA before, if in doubt, bring one please)

3) Bring a 1" x 1" photo of your child for their "player card". If you do not have a photo, we will have a camera on hand to take one.

4) Complete a "Medical Waiver Form"

5) Uniform orders will be taken and size samples will be on display (this is included in your registration fee)

6) Registration fees of $65.00 will be collected if not paid already (checks payable to "Hamilton Soccer Association")

Again, because it is imperative that you attend registration night on Monday the 9th, we would like to verify that you have read this e-mail and can attend. PLEASE REPLY TO YOUR E-MAIL (hamsocteamdirector@gmail.com ) simply with a "GOT IT". Those we do not hear from we will be calling this weekend.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you and your soccer player at registration night.

Sincerely,

HAMSOC Board

Mark your calendar.. Monday night, 2/9/09

A preview for those of you following the blog. The board met tonight, and decided we need to schedule a registration night this coming Monday from 6:30pm to 8:00pm for all club players. Sorry about the short notice. There are several things we need from each player, and our deadline for team rosters and team fees is coming quickly.

More details (like the location and what to bring) should follow tomorrow, so stay tuned. Thanks!!

Monday, February 2, 2009

I wanted to update the families who are following. On Friday we mailed in the team commitment forms and the payments associated with that for the teams I listed on Jan. 20. We still do not have the paperwork back for all of the players, so if you have not sent in your player registration form, please do so today. I also notice that only 18 people are following the blog, and there are nearly 90 players this Spring, so pass the word! Have people follow the blog, or get in contact with Bill Mousel so that we maximize communication.

Coming soon: a date for you to come and finish paperwork, and get a list of the players on your team.

Ignore the "don't sign before..."

It has come to my attention that the statement "do not sign before June 23" appears on the GVSA form. Still, it is the only form they have provided, so go ahead and sign and send it in. GVSA is thinking about the 2009-2010 season when they make this statement.

Go ahead and sign the form and send it in.
These are the proposed teams awaiting commitments from players:

Boys U13
Boys U12
Girls U12
Boys U11
Girls U10
Boys U9
Girls U8

Done!

Invitations have been sent via email. If you didn't receive anything, let me know by commenting on this post!

Some emails did not go through. I will follow up with these soon. But now, to bed. Good night!!
1. When is the season, and when will games be?
The season consists of 8 games roughly starting the weekend following Spring Break. Four would be in Hamilton, and four would be away (GVSA tries to have teams playing other teams within a 50 mile radius). Games are likely to be on Saturdays.
2. Who will be my child’s coach?
Coaches will be determined next. Please let me know if you have an interest in coaching or even in helping to coach. For the safety of our players, all of our coaches must have a Risk Management Card indicating a cleared background check.
3. What does the U mean in U9?
It stands for "under" as in "under 9 years old". So a child playing U9 this Spring would have to have their 9th birthday after July 31, 2008. The same rule would apply to other age divisions as well.
4. What does "playing up" mean?
A child who is young enough to play U8 but plays U9 (in the older age group) is said to be "playing up".
5. When is the next round of tryouts?
The next round of tryouts for Hamilton Soccer Club will take place in June. Those will be for both Fall of 2009 and Spring of 2010. If you follow the blog, you will be notified automatically as soon as a date is set for those tryouts.
